project Background

USIC is an infrastructure location service. They help contractors and excavators locate crucial underground utilities before they start digging.

This module is part of a much larger program to help educate newly hired locate technicians who are the frontline workers. Data showed that new locate techs were leaving at an alarming rate. USIC had an attrition rate of nearly 2/3s leaving within the first year. There was also a goal of reducing damages in the field. Management had some feedback from exit interviews. Outgoing techs said the number one reason they were leaving was because they didn't feel confident in their abilities once they entered the field.

This course helps new locate technicians understand the importance of working with high-profile facilities with the goal of reducing damage, keeping technicians safe, and minimizing service outages.
